Here’s your chance to win tickets to attend Derek Jeter’s Baseball Hall of Fame induction

Attention Derek Jeter fans!

The former New York Yankees all-star shortstop is scheduled to be inducted in the National Baseball Hall of Fame this summer and baseball fans will have the chance to attend the event.

That’s because Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation announced it is auctioning two VIP tickets and accommodations to attend the 2021 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony as part of its virtual fundraiser, Give With Purpose.

Jeter was supposed to go into the Hall of Fame last summer, but the event was canceled because of the pandemic.

All bids through the Give With Purpose fundraiser and auction will support Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation and its programs that help youth to rise above negative influences, lead healthy lives, and achieve their greatest potential.

Jeter created Turn 2 during his rookie season with the Yankees in 1996, which has since awarded more than $30 million to create and support

Manchester Students Win 30 Percent Rent Reduction Following Strike

Hundreds of students taking part in a rent strike at the University of Manchester have won their demands for a rent reduction after recent escalation tactics that saw them occupy an empty building on campus.

All students in the university’s accommodation will receive 30 percent off their rent from the first semester when many were forced to isolate amid coronavirus outbreaks. It marks the largest rent reduction in the university’s history, gaining traction after the university fenced students in without warning and left many feeling unhappy at the support provided while self-isolating.

Alongside the rent reductions, students will also be able to break from their accommodation contracts with no penalty.

In a statement, the UoM Rent Strike campaign said: “The university has, throughout this process, refused to properly engage with its students and by its own arrogance done potentially irreparable damage to its own reputation.”

The trip, which comes as the mayor attempts to discourage interstate travel because of the pandemic, prompted questions from reporters and derision on social media from some residents and Bowser critics.

Bowser (D) said that she was “very proud” to attend the celebration in Wilmington and that the trip “absolutely” qualified as “essential travel” — which is exempted from the mayor’s quarantine order — because she was conducting government business on the road.

“I do a lot of things to advance the interests of the District of Columbia. Some of them are formal and some of them are informal, but all
