Hawaii offering free roundtrip flight tickets to remote workers who want to temporarily move to the islands

Hawaii is giving out free roundtrip tickets to help fill the gap left by vacationers during the COVID pandemic.

“We wanted to help fill the gap from the decrease we’ve experienced in the 7-day visitors to our state,” said Jason Higa, CEO of FCH Enterprises, and leader who has spearheaded the program. “Now that many people have the choice to work remotely, there’s an opportunity for former local residents to return home and for out-of-state individuals and families to live and work from Hawai’i for a longer period of time. We believe this program will attract many former Hawai’i residents and professionals seeking a safe, warm environment to continue living their normal lives while contributing to the Hawai’i community.”

The state’s Movers & Shakas program will choose 50 remote workers to give the first round of free flights to O’ahu. More applicants will be accepted to the program on a

It’s a sad day for the Emotional Service Animal (ESA) owners of the world.

According to a final ruling issued by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Wednesday, major changes to the rules around flying with animals are underway.

Most notably, animals with Emotional Support Animal status will no longer be considered service animals and could be subjected to flying in cargo for a fee.

Until today, airlines would require passengers to provide a doctor’s note stating that they needed the animal for emotional support. The issue has been the subject of major controversy over the years, causing major rifts amongst passengers and airline personnel. In the

United Airlines charged an extra $386 for a Thanksgiving flight

Q. I booked a round-trip flight from Washington, D.C., to Chicago for Thanksgiving. The original flight was supposed to leave from Washington at 10:45 a.m. on Thanksgiving and return on Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m.

When I arrived at the gate, United announced that a flight attendant did not show up for work that day, and United had no additional flight attendants on reserve. They could not give us an estimated departure time and said that the flight was delayed “indefinitely.”

Since it was Thanksgiving morning, I spoke to a ticket agent about other flights going to Chicago. He put me on standby for the 11:45 a.m. flight, which was full, and said I was confirmed on the 12:45 p.m. flight in case my original flight was still delayed beyond 12:45 p.m., but that I would lose my seat on my original flight.

I ended up getting on my original

Info about hotel, flight cancellation policies

Airbnb says it is laying off 25% of its workforce as it confronts a steep decline in global travel due to the new coronavirus pandemic. It’s a serious setback for the 12-year-old home-sharing company. (May 6)

AP Domestic

The coronavirus pandemic has wreaked havoc on travel this year, and even with effective vaccines on the horizon, travelers may want to change or cancel their plans on relatively short notice.

Airlines, Amtrak, hotels have generally speaking relaxed their change and cancellation policies to accommodate those last-minute changes due to COVID-19.

They have every incentive to do that: Travel is down sharply from a year ago as the country is in the midst of a surge in COVID-19 cases, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended that Americans not travel for Thanksgiving.

Most hotel reservations can be changed or canceled within 24 hours of arrival with no fee.

CDC warns against cruise travel, ups international flight guidelines

Cruise Lines International Association, which represents 95% of the cruise industry, introduced mandatory requirements to be able to set sail again.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published a Level 4 travel notice on Saturday advising that “all people” should avoid travel on cruise ships worldwide because “the risk of COVID-19 on cruise ships is very high.”

“Cruise passengers are at increased risk of person-to-person spread of infectious diseases, including COVID-19, and outbreaks of COVID-19 have been reported on cruise ships,” the organization said on its website.

The CDC added that for passengers who may be considered at increased risk, the warning is “especially” applicable.

“Passengers who decide to go on a cruise should get tested 3-5 days after your trip AND stay home for 7 days after travel,” the CDC said. “Even if you test negative, stay home for the full 7 days.”

Bollywood actor Amit Sadh feels it is inhuman not to be affected by the sudden death of a shining star like Sushant Singh Rajput. Amit recalled a recent incident that made his emotional allover again for SSR. “My recent flight from Kullu to Mumbai, the sequence number on my ticket was SSR. I just couldn’t get it and I realised that only I had to get this. I think the industry has changed post coronavirus and is also affected by his death. I hope we are affected by it, because if we are not affected with it we are not human beings and if we aren’t humans then we shouldn’t be telling stories about humans.” Amit shared screen space with Sushant in the film “Kai Po Che!”, which released in 2013. The Abhishek Kapoor film was a turning point for both actors. Amit

Virgin Galactic Dives 6% on Space Flight Delay Due to the Coronavirus

A speculative investment if ever there was one, Virgin Galactic (NYSE:SPCE) stock fell earthward on Monday, following a company announcement on its upcoming test space flight.

That flight was to take place between this coming Thursday and the following Monday in New Mexico. However, due to new restrictions imposed by the state’s government to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus, Virgin Galactic is delaying the event. It said this decision was taken in consultations with New Mexico officials.

The company added that it is “minimizing its operational footprint” in the state; its operations are based in the Spaceport America facility located in the Jornada del Muerto desert basin.
